When a superstar of the contemporary art world exhibits in Melbourne, the art community pulls out all stops to make the event a success. So it was with San Francisco-based artist Barry McGee.

McGees work exists in the anarchic realm between two worldsthe vibrant politics of the street and the rarefied sensitivities of the art world. He utilises the visual language of the graffiti subculture to comment upon the ways of contemporary society with devastating force.
